This is an online course for high school teachers that explores 10 topical units spanning 600 years of history. It is not meant to provide a comprehensive survey of American history. Rather, it is an opportunity for teachers to look deeply into 10 topics common to most American history classes and examine them with the eye of a historian. The topics are explored using a variety of media, including feature films and interactive activities. Two questions that guide teachers as they work through the topics are:

  • How do we know what we know?
  • What does it mean to be a historian?
