One of the most versatile, but least used activities available in core Moodle. It enables course participants to create, maintain, and search a bank of records. The teacher can set up views to show multiple or single entries as well as setting up custom entry and search views. Entries can be graded, or not, and also set to require teacher approval before other students can view entries made by someone else. Users can even add comments to records.
Once you design a database activity, you can export it as a preset for use in other courses or give a copy to other Moodle users for use on their site. Data records can be exported to CSV or ODS (OpenOffice) formats.
Possible uses are only limited by your imagination. There is even an add-on PoodLL database field that allows the database activity to accept video, audio, snapshot and whiteboard submissions. It requires the PoodLL filter to also be installed.
